Science Test on Tuesday 2/17/18 Read Across America Day is Friday! People who have the flu often feel some or all of these symptoms, according to the CDC:

Homeroom Homework: Reading for 15 minutes and talking to your child about what they read. See the homework tab for lots of questions you can ask! At this point the students should be diving deeply into understanding the text. Do you want to review the items below at home? Brainpop, brainpopjr, safari montage, learn zillion, and youtube have an abundance of great videos on the topics below. For writing- having students talk and write about their opinion on a topic and come up with 3 or more reasons for why they think/believe/or feel that way. What We’re Working On : Word Study: Multiple Meaning Words Reading: Point of View with Fractured Fairy Tales Writing: Students are beginning opinion writing. They are working on creating a strong introduction, stating a clear opinion, giving 3 or more reasons for their opinion, and writing a persuasive closing. Science: Students will be taking their test on Tuesday. We will be extending our learning about space by learning about the planets for the remainder of the week. My Accelerated Math Class: This week we will begin continue learning about fractions including fractions on a number line and equivalent fractions! Mark Your Calendar:

For writing- having students research, gather facts, and write different paragraphs about one specific animal would be good way for them to practice their writing skills. What We’re Working On : Word Study: Shades of Meaning and Informal and Formal Language Reading: Cause and Effect and Point of View Writing: Students have been gathering facts from a variety of sources. This week we will be working on writing a country report and discussing reasons why someone would want to visit there. Science: Students will be learning about shadows and the moon. The study guide will be available soon. We will take our test on 2/27/18. My Accelerated Math Class: This week we will begin learning about fractions! Book Fair is tomorrow! Our class will go from 1:00-1:30 right before specials. Please send your child's money in an envelope or baggie with their name and the money amount. Example: Finn $5. If you only want your child to buy books please specify that with a note! Thanks!
Valentine’s Day Cards Mrs. Bentley’s Class will be exchanging Valentine’s Day Cards on Wednesday, February 14th. Reading: Inferencing- a conclusion reached on the basis of evidence and reasoning. Writing: Students have been gathering facts from a variety of sources. This week we will be working on finalizing their penguin books. Science: Students will be learning about the color, size, and brightness of stars. We will also be talking about how the seasons are affected by the number of daylight hours. Friday students will need to bring in a working flashlight that will be returned home the same day.
