3 more weeks of learning before Winter Break! Updates and Reminders: Please cut out and turn in Box Tops for our school! We are in need of band-aids. If you would like to send in a box that would be fantastic. Please send in a healthy snack and a refilled water bottle daily. Homeroom Homework: Reading for 15 minutes and talking to your child about what they read. See the homework tab for lots of questions you can ask! At this point the students should be diving deeply into understanding the text. Do you want to review the items below at home? For writing- just having them practice an example of what we are doing in class would be helpful review. In class they typically pick their own writing topic. What We’re Working On : Word Study: Multiple Meaning Words such as bat- an item you use to hit a ball or bat- a flying nocturnal mammal Reading: Describing how characters in a story respond to major events and challenges. In order to understand a character more we can think about what they are feeling, doing, thinking, and saying. Writing: How-To Writing- The students are working on writing sequential steps using transition words. We are also focusing this month on making sure to ALWAYS use capital letters and punctuation marks. Science: Forces: Push, Pull, Friction, and Speed Brainpop Login: SBCE Password: Learn Video: Pushes and Pull My Accelerated Math Class: Area and how we use the distributive property to find the area of large plane figures. Mark Your Calendar: The annual Fall Festival is Sunday, November 5th from 1-4 p.m. in the back field. You won’t want to miss the fun with your family and friends. We’ll have several inflatables, a fun DJ, festival games including sack races & tug of war, face painting, crafts, our ever popular cake walk, photo booth, food vendors to purchase food and a Farmer’s Market. $5 per person Maximum cost per family is $20. Children 3 and under are free. We are scheduled to visit Johns Creek High School for their production ofThe Selfish Giant on Thursday, November 16 from 11:30-1:30.
